Never neglect yourself, not even in the tiniest details. We all do sometime in our lives, but I’m writing this blog post today to remind you and me….not anymore! Growing older should not mean looking old. I recently found out through 23andMe that I’m more French than I realized which lead me to research Frenchwomen.
Frenchwomen seem to defy age but do they really have the answers when it comes to the aging process? Women on both sides of the Atlantic realize that the key to aging is challenging, especially if you have bad genes, spend too much time in the sun or smoke a lot. Frenchwomen seem to regard the pampering of the skin, hair and body as an enjoyable and gratifying ritual. Looks like I already see common traits with my French relatives.
Looking attractive, at any age, is just what Frenchwomen do. For Parisiennes, maintaining their image is as natural as wearing stilettos on a cobblestone street. Beauty seems to be a tradition handed down from generation to generation and one I think we all should embrace.
Frenchwomen have been doing it right for generations. Facials, massages and spa remedies to fight against wrinkles, cellulite, and saggy body parts. As for makeup, Frenchwomen regard less is best. Heavy foundation has a tendency to emphasize wrinkles and pores and most women avoid it in favor of a bit of blush. Women who do use foundation make sure that it blends with their skin applying it just after moisturizing. The idea is to look as natural as possible; a little color on the eyelids, mascara and maybe a bit of eyeliner and lip gloss
For me being conscious of what I eat and how I exercise is imperative to my mind and body. I keep my weight steady, no ups and downs for long periods of time, and I eat all kinds of food but in small portions. I do not belong to a gym as I find them torture, but I do walk A LOT. Makeup has always been a struggle for me which is why I love the “natural as possible look” but I never stop searching for the best beauty products and learning through beauty tutorials what works for me.
Of course, it’s easy to look natural if your skin is great but if it’s not, there is no harm in a little cosmetic surgery and doesn’t stop Frenchwomen from having “something done”. If you feel the need, I believe it should be “to keep the natural beauty and charm of each individual woman and not to replicate some current idea of beauty. Look as natural as possible. I believe this holds true not just for Frenchwomen but for all women. If women feel good about themselves, right down to their lingerie, they look good too. So find yourself a new best friend; an esthetican and Embrace the Ride to a beautiful you and don’t let it become a struggle. Fall in love with taking care of yourself…mind, body and spirit.
